I pledge allegiance to the Earth
To the Holy Mother who gave us birth;
To the living planet on which I stand,
One Being-Mother Goddess-indivisable,
In harmonly and balance with all.

We as parents have some affect as to what our kids will grow into being. We can support or deny. By our slightest actions we shape our own future with our children. The parent who is always more interested in his job, tells his child that s/he is not as important as money and society outside the home. Those never there for their child will find that their child may never make time for them in later years.
Today's kids are subjected to uncareing daycare centers, over stuffed classrooms and exhausted parents. It is time we changed that, and taking control of ourselves and our choices are a step in the right direction. Teaching others, is a next step and our responibitly. Is working late to have the newest car more important then Emily's fear of the dark? Or is that fancy house more important then Michael's wobbling two wheel triumph? 10 years later will you sit and wonder why you only get calls from them for money? Because that is what you have taught them,
Today we are under great pressure to make our kids just like everyone else, to fit in with the norm, no regard is paid for the standalones and the trailblazers as in the past. Today's kids are forced to be a media clone or else ostracized by peers and administrators alike. To be different, individual, is to be bad. Terms like ADD, uncooperative, disruptive, argumenitive and hyperactive are used to segregate, demean and control the individual into submitting to the rote and rule of the masses. Children are advised to "fit in" and admonished "why can't you act like the other kids?" when they exihibit personality.
The outcome of this we have seen, is Columbine and other incidents where the outcast got sick of the cookie cutter world and fought back. Using the system brought no end to the hardship, so what these kids learned from the world around them was their battle was to be fought alone and more often then not culminates in violence. No other means seemed to get the point across to the world.
The overall media reaction to these sad protests is in direct negation to the problem, instead of less negation and control, instead of acceptance for the individual, more condemnation is given, and more children crack from the pressure of the institution. Today's schools are not seats of learning, they are incarceration facilities, where public mandates systematically weed out the individuality of each student to destroy it. If families decide to fight back using legal options they are held up even further for public ridicule.
In these pages is information I offer the concerned parent can use to take control of their life, their kids and through them the world around.
